From government partnerships and OWC visits to community trainings and international trade negotiations — a record of every landmark moment in the MOVFACOS journey.
In partnership with MAC BEE, MOVFACOS members received hands-on training in modern beekeeping practices. The program introduced members to hive management, honey extraction, and queen rearing — equipping cooperatives with new income streams alongside their core vanilla and cocoa activities. Beekeeping near Queen Elizabeth National Park creates a dual benefit: household income and ecological support for pollinator ecosystems vital to the region's agriculture.
MOVFACOS members underwent structured training on cooperative governance led by the District Commercial Officer (DCO) for Kasese, Mr. Simon Kasereka. Sessions covered member rights, financial accountability, board leadership, and compliance — building the institutional foundation for a thriving, transparent cooperative society.
The OWC Coordinator for Bukonzo County visited MOVFACOS project sites to assess operations for possible financial funding under Operation Wealth Creation. The site inspection covered farming demonstrations, cooperative infrastructure, and member activities — a pivotal step towards securing government-backed development support for the cooperative.
MOVFACOS members and community residents paused for a commemorative photograph with OWC Regional Coordinator Brigadier General Philip Mugarura during his visit. A moment that symbolised the bridge between national leadership and grassroots farming communities across the Rwenzori region.
Honourable Zephanus Mubingwa, the Deputy Resident District Commissioner for Kasese, paid an official visit to the MOVFACOS office. The visit recognized the cooperative's growing impact in Kasese District and strengthened the relationship between the cooperative and district-level government, paving the way for policy support and administrative collaboration.
Representatives from MOVFACOS' 25 farmer groups gathered for structured capacity building sessions covering agronomy, financial literacy, and cooperative management — equipping community leaders to drive impact at the grassroots level.
MOVFACOS held dedicated meetings with women and youth entrepreneurs across Kasese District — connecting artisans, small-scale traders, and vocational trainees with cooperative resources, market linkages, and mentorship to grow sustainable local enterprises.
MOVFACOS engaged directly with Bertram Ford to negotiate fair trade market terms for our certified organic vanilla. This milestone ensures that the value of vanilla grown in the Rwenzori foothills flows equitably back to the 2,551 farmers who cultivate it.
